Our journey began in 2011 as a small, unincorporated freelance collective known as Writers Corner. As a group of 1099 technical writers and creatives, we provided discounted branding, technical writing, and procurement training to MBEs, LBEs, SBEs, and local governments throughout the Greater Bay Area. Operating on minimal resources—sometimes just 12MB of shared data—we quietly helped clients secure millions in municipal contracts.

By 2020, our collective efforts had contributed to more than $54 million in wins for small and minority-owned businesses, driven entirely by technical writing, SMO, SEO, word-of-mouth referrals, and an unwavering commitment to equitable access.
Today, the freelancers who built Writers Corner keep the lights on while forming the backbone of The Ark’s Creative Corner. As a Mutual Benefit Corporation with a 501(c)(3) nonprofit sector, we meld purpose with philanthropy—continuing our tradition of supporting small businesses and nonprofits while generating the revenue that sustains our mission and expands The Ark’s community-focused initiatives.
